The Fourth Annual First Ever Watley Review Limerick Competition

No one is more surprised than We that our humble Webamagraph publication continues to inflict our unique brand of Journalism upon the world after four years. Four years is time enough to earn a Degree at a fine plant-covered University of some sort or Other; time enough to raise Multiple generations of Basset hounds, if one were so inclined; even time enough to read Ulysses and Recover. Hence, we thought it high time that some sort of Celebratory Verse be composed, in honor of the Occasion. The trouble is, we can barely keep our Prose in order, much less Verse.

Hence, we turn to You, our noble Readers, to concoct a Watley-themed Limerick of your choosing. The Limerick seems rather a Suitable verse venue for us, and they should not be too hard to Read for our bleary Eyes. The best entries shall be published in the Watley Review, and the overall winner shall receive a splendid Watley Review Whisky Mug.

Here are the rules, such as they are:

  1. Entries must be in limerick form or something resembling a limerick, though if you feel a need to cast aside convention we shall not stand in your way.
  2. Judging is going to be entirely arbitrary and unfair and may very well be aided by the consumption of large amounts of Scotch. (Actually, would anyone dare judge a limerick contest without adequate supplies of Scotch to hand?)
  3. No profanity please, though you are welcome to use innuendo if you feel a need. We are a rather old-fashioned webamagraph site.
  4. Entries should have something to do with either The Watley Review, our esteemed Editor, or a particular story we have published.
  5. Anyone is free to enter, and you may enter as many limericks as you wish. However! -
  6. Entries must be ORIGINAL work - no borrowing from your next door neighbor please!

The competition has Ended! Please click here for the Winner!
